Auburn University has officially announced the hiring of Hugh Freeze as the 31st head coach of the Auburn Tigers football team. Freeze's six-year contract will pay him an average of $6.5 million per year.
Freeze comes to Auburn with an impressive 11-year record at major schools, boasting an 89-50 winning percentage and a 640 record. Additionally, he has experience leading teams to bowl games, having guided Liberty to four bowl appearances and a 34-15 record during his tenure from 2019-22. Notably, Freeze played a pivotal role in the development of former Auburn quarterback Malik Willis.
Freeze's overall career record stands at 83-43, and he holds a 21-23 record against SEC teams, including Oklahoma and Texas, who will soon become full-time members of the SEC. His strong performance against SEC opponents bodes well for Auburn's competitive future within the conference.
