Early Life and Career Beginnings

Keith Urban was born on October 26, 1967, in Whangarei, New Zealand. He is the son of Marienne Urban, a school teacher, and Bob Urban, a farmer.

Urban began playing guitar at a young age and formed his first band, The Ranch, when he was 15 years old. The band released two albums in Australia before Urban left to pursue a solo career in the United States.

Move to the United States and Breakthrough

Urban moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1992 and signed with Capitol Records. He released his debut album, Keith Urban, in 1991, which spawned the hit singles "Somebody Like You" and "Your Everything." His second album, The Ranch, was released in 1997 and featured the hit singles "But for the Grace of God" and "Where the Blacktop Ends."

Urban's breakthrough came with the release of his third album, Golden Road, in 2002. The album featured the hit singles "Somebody Like You," "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me," and "You Look Good in My Shirt." Golden Road was a huge commercial success, selling over 3 million copies in the United States and earning Urban his first Grammy Award.

Continued Success

Urban has continued to release successful albums and singles throughout his career. His most recent album, Ripcord, was released in 2016 and featured the hit singles "Break on Me" and "The Fighter." Urban has also starred in several films, including "The Fighter" (2010) and "American Idol" (2012-2016).

Urban is one of the most successful country music artists of all time. He has won four Grammy Awards, 13 Academy of Country Music Awards, and 11 Country Music Association Awards.

Personal Life

Urban is married to actress Nicole Kidman. The couple has two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
